Residency

Last week I had a meeting with my boss, to discuss our plans of permanent residency in Canada. The result was that H+R are going to sponsor us and we can apply as a family right away. The prospect of endless paperwork is somewhat daunting, but I'm sure we are up to the challenge, just like all the families that have gone before us.

We have decided to do the paperwork ourselves and not employ the services of an agency. Our decision to do this, is purely a financial one. It helps that we have friends who have gone through the process already and will share their experiences with us so that we might learn from any mistakes that they have made.

Our first hurdle is to download all the paperwork from the Internet, fill it out and submit it by March 31st. To have a deadline so close is our first element of pressure, which is not made any easier by the fact that the new printer we have bought is not playing the game. Or should I say playing games with us. (Either way we need to rectify this)..

  2. Hi 'The Mills'
First of all congratulations on getting nominated for PR. Would it be possible to ask a few questions? How are H&R to work for? How long are you away in one trip? How does your wife & kids feel about you being away? I ask this as we are lookin to come over in a few years time and this is the thing that bothers my wife the most.
    Thanks

  3. Hi Al,, Trips vary in length and there are no typicals. You can leave home and be back within 5 days, or you might get a job that keeps you away alot longer.. H&R send you a job on the computer and you say whether you can do it or not. If you want to or need to be home you book the time off, and they will try and get you back. It dosen't work like the UK whereby you know you leave Monday and will be back Friday. It is truly a 24/7 operation. As for being away from the family, nobody likes it, but everybody deals with it. 5. Hi Alan,
This is Toms Mrs....I don't mind Tom being away from home cause I'm used to him being away when we was back in England....However the quality of life for our 3 kids is much much better, they have so much freedom over here....Canadian people are really friendly as well so that helps a little the biggest thing is being away from family but once you get your head round that its all good...I hope this helps a little.....

    Sarah...x
